I would like to introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Kate and welcome to ‘The Bluebird Collective’. I am the founder and I cannot wait for what the future holds for us. Our blog will be filled with industry knowledge as well as updates on what is happening within ‘The Bluebird Collective’.

Where I started my career in event styling

Many of you may not know but before I settled in NSW I started my Styling career in Perth, Western Australia after moving there from England.

How my event styling career started with Hire In Style

I met Hannah and Jacinta Robinson from Hire In Style just after they launched their furniture hire company in the regional town of Kojonup in Western Australia. We teamed up when we both realised that there were no event stylists in the area, yet everyone wanted large marquee weddings on their farms. Now Hire in Style have two warehouse locations in WA and are a well established boutique hire company in WA. I have watched them grow into something very special and I hope I become as successful as they have!

I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion Communication and specialised within Events Management, however I had never styled weddings before. Hannah and Jacinta took me in and together we created some amazing weddings. This is where my styling career started, totally by accident. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities they gave me, and for the fact that I had finally found a career I wanted to pursue.

Our styled shoot

Hannah later had a vision to create an outdoor bridal shoot on a typical piece of rural Australian land. Being from the UK I always pictured the countryside to be green and lush but when I moved to WA I experienced a new type of countryside. I have fallen in love with Australia and everything it has to offer, after 5 years I’m still here I don’t plan on leaving.

The inspiration behind the shoot

LUXE BOHO || The raw landscape was the perfect spot to capture the beauty of Western Australia’s countryside and was also one of the main features to the shoot. We then added rich ruby reds, glittering golds and moody greys which set against the golden sun-bleached grasses, which is so distinctly Australian.

Photographer Lee Griffith Photography teamed up with styling and prop hire team Hire In Style and stylist Katie Walmsley, floral designer Lush Floral Designs, stationery designers White Ink Design and Look Whos Chalkin, dessert designer Niknaks Sweetest Treats  and added crystals from  Crystal Universe  to creative a modern wedding inspiration shoot with a touch of bohemian.

Models Mikaela Armstrong  and Mitchell Zeer were brought to life as the bride and groom thanks to Through The White Door, Lucy Dean, Brittons Formal WearKate Samiotis Hair and Body Beam.

This shoot was featured on Polka Dot Bride:
